Tyre application of different polybutadiene grades

The biggest application for polybutadiene rubbers is in tyres. More than 70% of the worldwide produced PBR will be consumed in this application. The figures are showing the average PBR-content in the elastomer blend of a typical radial car tyre with 2 steel belts and nylon cap ply.

ARLANXEO BU-PBR produces three different grades of polybutadiene. Depending on the used catalyst the grades are called Lithium, Cobalt or Neodymium butadiene rubber (LiBR, CoBR, NdBR). The use of the different catalyst give different micro and macro structures of the polymers and, most importantly, different properties and processability.
